Valluvar Kottam
This popular tourist spot situated near Hotel Chinnass is a modern landmark in Chennai, India which is dedicated to the classical Tamil poet, philosopher and saint Thiruvalluvar. Valluvar Kottam is located at the intersection of the Kodambakkam High road and the Village road.
The 133 chapters of his famous work Thirukkural have been depicted in bas-relief in the front hall corridors of the chariot. The auditorium at Valluvar Kottam is said to be the largest in Asia and can accommodate about 4000 people.

Fort St. George
Fort St. George (or historically, White Town) is the name of the first British fortress in India, founded in 1639 at the coastal city of Chennai. The fort is a stronghold with 6 meter high walls that withstood a number of assaults in the 18th century.
Situated in the coastal state of Tamil Nadu, this ancient monument is worth watching on your trip to Chennai. St. Mary's Church, situated in the fort, is one of the oldest surviving churches built by the British in India. This beautiful building has stood the test of time and still holds the splendor of the yore. A 14.5 ft tall statue of Lord Cornwallis in front of the museum & 150 ft tall Flagstaff, made entirely of teakwood is another fascinating structures to be seen.

The Marina Beach
Marina Beach is a beach in the city of Chennai India, along the Bay of Bengal, part of the Indian Ocean. The beach runs from near Fort St. George in the north tNao gar in the south, a distance of 13 km.
Mountstuart Elphinstone Grant Duff, the governor of Madras from 1881 to 1886, conceived and built the promenade along the beach and christened it the Madras Marina . Eventually, the north-drifting current widened the beach to its present extent.
The Marina used to be famed for its pristine beauty, jolly ambiance, and rich ecosystems.
The beach is popular for its shops and food stalls. The memorials and statues, morning walk, joggers' track, lovers' spot, aquarium, etc., make it a hangout for people of all ages.
Kapaleeshwar Temple
Kapaleeshwarar Temple is temple of Shiva, located in Mylapore. The form of Shiva's wife Parvati worshipped at this temple is called Karpagambal (goddess of the wish-yielding tree). The Pallava Nayanmars built this temple around the 7th century.
According to the Puranas, Shakti worshipped Shiva, in the form of a peacock, which is why the vernacular name Mylai was given to the area that developed around the temple, as Mayil means Peacock in Tamil. The east gopuram is about 40 m high, while the smaller western gopuram faces the sacred tank.
This temple is also a testimonial for the vishwakarmas sthapathis.
Santhome Basilica
San Thome Basilica is a Roman Catholic minor basilica in Santhome, in the city of Chennai. It was built in the 16th century by Portuguese explorers, and rebuilt again with the status of a cathedral by the British in 1893.
Christian tradition holds that that St. Thomas arrived in Kerala from Palestine in 52 A.D. preached between 52 A.D. and 72 A.D., when he was martyred on St. Thomas Mount. The basilica is built over the site where he was believed originally to be interred.
The San Thome Basilica is a pilgrimage centre for Christians in India.
The church also has an attached museum.
Light House
The Light House is a famous landmark on the Marina Beach in Chennai. It was built by the East Coast Constructions and Industries.
The history of the Madras Lighthouse dates back to 1795. In 1796, the roof of the Officers Mess in what is now known as Fort St George, was selected as the site for the first warning beacon. It was nothing more than a large lantern.
The original lighthouse was located at Fort St George near the Chennai Port. This was later decommissioned after the present one was constructed at the south end of the Marina beach near Santhome. The structure also houses the meteorological department and is restricted to visitors.
